As a means to further popularize backgammon in Serbia, we are introducing the Serbian Team Championship, which is defined by this document for the current year.

The Team Backgammon Championship will be held from September 18, 2026, to September 20, 2026, in Pančevo, during the same weekend as the main tournament in Pančevo.

Teams are nominated by clubs, where a club is defined as a registered players’ association (in accordance with the Federation’s regulations).

A team in the Team Championship consists of five players, all members of the same club, who must be registered on the website in a timely manner, by the deadline set by the Federation (by September 1, 2026, for the current year). Club transfers are carried out exclusively during the transfer window (September 1, 2026) by the player submitting a request to the Federation, along with the consent of the future club.

Each club may register more than one team for the club championship. Each team can have a maximum of two substitute players, and changes to the player lineup and board order can be made between rounds.

Club presidents shall submit the team rosters, and the teams shall be represented by previously designated captains.

Players who have paid their annual membership fees by September 1, 2026, are eligible to compete in the Team Championship. A club president may revoke the membership of any player at any time in accordance with that club’s regulations and cannot readmit them to membership until the next transfer window. Initially, club presidents will confirm current membership status for this year.

Each club internally determines how its teams are formed.

In 2026, each team is allowed to feature a maximum of one foreign player (who otherwise does not have the right to participate in the individual Serbian Championship). A foreign player cannot participate if, during the current year, they have been registered or have competed for another foreign club in official competitions (international or national), according to WBGF records or the records of their home federation (if they originate from a country that is a WBGF member in the current year). If it is determined subsequently, within 10 days after the conclusion of the Team Championship, that a foreign player has violated this condition, the team’s achieved result will be nullified, and that club will be barred from participating in the next Team Championship. This BGSS restriction does not apply to players who have the right to participate in the Serbian Championship.

Depending on the number of registered teams, the tournament system will be determined, with the assumption that, if necessary (based on the expected number of teams), matches will be played over two days (Friday and Sunday).

Matches will be played to 11 points, and all Federation regulations regarding tournament organization and match play in effect at that moment will apply.

Club presidents are invited to tentatively announce their teams and captains to the President of the Federation.

In Belgrade,

12.8.2026,

President of Backgammon Federation of Serbia

Miloš Mikić
